Now evidence is mounting that even more Zen 2 CPUs are coming, in what could be a short-term refresh while we wait for AMD's Zen 3 to knock our socks off. As spotted by Videocardzthere are two bits of evidence pointing to a Zen 2 refresh.
The seemingly less reliable of the two is a Twitter post from a user who claims to have obtained their information from a source within AMD.
The dates in the tweet are referencing the release of new AMD B motherboards. This isn't actually the first time the X name has popped up: It was listed in some accidentally published AMD documents back in Septemberas spotted by Anandtech.
There is no mention of specifications for these new chips. We don't know if the information is legitimate, but the AMD documents from last year make it plausible. Another source adds a bit more evidence: Gigabyte. A slide from the B press kit.
It seems to be before AMD announced Zen 3 support for series. Also, A - August pic. Again, it's unconfirmed, but a slide that was supposedly plucked from an Aorus Gigabyte's gaming brand B press kit highlights a "Refresh" headed to AMD's Ryzen Zen 2 series.
It's kind of an odd time for a refresh. Every indication is that Zen 3 is on track to release this year. That new generation of CPUs is being built on an enhanced 7nm manufacturing process and could offer a significant bump in performance over Zen 2—our best guess is a 15 percent increase in IPC instructions per clock performance, along with faster clockspeeds and better power efficiency. But if Zen 3 isn't out until near the end of the year, these chips could bolster AMD's lineup against Intel's Comet Lake for the next several months.
It's also possible that AMD might debut Zen 3 with higher-end and pricier models initially.

If that is the case, a X or X could make sense for some people, particularly since AMD has said Zen 3 will work in existing XB, X, and B releasing soon motherboards. Make sure you note the store admin backend address. It seems that there are some confusion when people are installing Ubuntu operating system on top of Hyper-V. There is a strong believe that Ubuntu machine cannot take full advantage of Hyper-v platform. This might have been true in the past but Microsoft has changed its attitude against Open source community. As you probably know, Hyper-v virtualization platform allows you to create two type of virtual machines.
Virtual machine Generation 1 which is basically used for legacy operating system and Virtual machine Generation 2 which includes new virtualization features and can emulate UEFI systems. This post is about installing Ubuntu This post will describe how to configure the Virtual machine as generation 2 and have the UEFI and secure boot enabled and make Ubuntu working with such settings….
Only a few people I know would perform an installation of Ubuntu using generation 2 option when creating the Virtual machine within the Hyper-v console but still not take full advantage of the hyper-v solution. To perform such miracle, you simply need to know which settings to choose or you have to know that such settings exists…keep reading. To perform these installation steps, we have used the Windows Server Evaluation version which provide the latest version of Hyper-v.
Based on the version of Windows or Windows you are running, you might not see all the options selected as described here. No Panic! In the next section, we will explain how to configure these settings using PowerShell… Note that this procedure works only on Windows and later operating systems.
Step 1 — Go to your Windows or Windows server, open your Hyper-v console and select the option to create a new Virtual machine. Step 2 — The wizard starts. Step 3 — Provide the name and location information for your virtual machine and press Next. Step 5 — Assign memory to your virtual machine as needed. When done, Press Next. Step 6 — Select the virtual switch that will be used by the virtual machine and Press Next. Step 7 — Specify if you want to create a new virtual disk or connect to an existing one.
When you have done your choice, Press Next. Step 8 — Select if you want to mount the Ubuntu iso file right away or not. Press Next when ready. At this stage, you have a ready to use virtual machine generation 2 and this configuration will work for sure if you want to install Windows operating system. If you are planning to install Ubuntu If you try to boot your virtual machine and trying to boot from Ubuntu iso, you should see something similar to this.
To make it works, you will need to edit the settings of the virtual machine, go to the security node and change the template used by the Virtual machine. If you do not see the Template option, please check the next section which explains how to do this using PowerShell Commands…. As soon as you have made the change and try to restart the installation process, you should see something like this asking you to proceed with your Ubuntu installation.
The screenshot below shows that indeed Ubuntu Depending the Build version of Windows or Windows you are running, you might not see the option templates in the Virtual machine settings Dialog Box. The screenshot below has been taken on Windows build if I remember and as you can see there is no Template option.

Hey guys I decided that since I am rooted, I have always wanted to see how Ubuntu would perform with are Intel atom processors. So I started out small and I am trying to boot a Core image of Ubuntu on the device. This is a screenshot of what I keep receiving when I try to boot Ubuntu. I was wondering what I did wrong in this process? If anyone can inform me of what I did wrong, I would greatly appreciate it. Sent from my ZEML. Attached Thumbnails.
OP Senior Member. Join Date: Joined: Jun I know that the ZenFone supports loop device. Does it matter? Thanks Meter : 1, Join Date: Joined: Jan Join Date: Joined: Dec My goal is to get Arch running natively and likely start with a minimal WM and then rebuild the interface from the ground up ground up is what Arch is known for so that I can basically run a full computer OS on it Hoping with the Intel SOC I'll get decent driver compatibility, may even work OOTB Hopefully others will want to join me and it could be a whole new mobile Linux distro based on Arch!

If you tried installing before this tutorial, it might be that your installation ended up in an unbootable state. I did not change the configuration back to Intel RST. You can not use the Screenpad as far as I know. The screenpad is used as an external monitor. Hi, thanks for your reply! In the 2. I did some digging into it but it was too hard to get it to work it probably needed a kernel driver. Thank you for this post. I tried what you propose but I unfortunately cannot make it work.
I somehow managed to install Ubuntu after disabling all kind of bios options secure boot, fast boot. However, for me it did not so I would probably do the normal ubuntu next time. I switched to the normal ubuntu version now, getting the wifi to work was really easy. You can start cmd perfectly fine in safe mode. Thank you for your post. Everything works except for the bottom screen not being touch enabled.
Mine is the smaller version, not the pro, but will have a look. Want to jump in and dual boot Ubuntu. Search on the web and seems nobody did it before on this new version of Zenbook.
Just want to see whether the following are essential: 1. Hi there, great article. I reached dual booting with mint I only use windows to print so not much of an issue. If you followed the steps then you should be able to keep your setting in AHCI and boot into both Linux and Windows without changing anything. Which mode do you need to get into Windows? And in what mode did you install Mint?On phones like ZEML is possible to install a normal linux? Since it uses a x86 atom cpu, and the bootloader isnt it bios?
Of course not along with android, no linux deploy, no emulators, no android kernel and all that crap Fun fact: on asus website there is the kernel source code. Won't relocate initramfs, are you in SLE? Unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU.

It's somehow related to this: android. I think the standard android boot loader for the atom. Thank you as long as it is attempted, I'll be happy. Yes I have tried many of those other methods for running Linux but none work for the 16gb Zeml as apparently Linux deploy can't use the external SD card. I'll definitely try out yours when it is ready!
Is there any dev out there that would be interested in bringing Ubuntu touch to our ZF2?✅NVIDIA AMPERE - последние утечки по GeForce RTX 3090, 3080 Ti, 3080, 3070 Ti и 3070.
Quite an interesting OS and seems like it would fit in great with the x86 CPU we have available to us. I know there are other threads requesting this no dev responded to it saying if it would be feasible or impossible to do so. I know alot of you guys want ubuntu touch on the zenfone just for something different but its not worth it considering all the work that would have to be put into it just "to try something new".
All other ubuntu phones are ARM based - if you'd try, this would be the first one on an intel chipset. I imagine there are a lot of things broken in the x64 version of the code since no one's really using it. If you do, please do check out ubports. Personally, i own a BQ Aquarius 4. It is a functional OS, but it lags heavily in apps. The OS is also very tightly screwed down - every app must run in user space with only write access to the user home.
Interaction is limited through the ubuntu service layer, which means its quite difficult to code an app for say - whatsapp - because the service layer must sit in between you and the whatsapp API.
The zenfone can definately run both but it lacks the usb c and mhl connectivity to drive a screen directly; perhaps when miracast is implemented properly in ubuntu OS it may become interesting to port. Until then, I'm not sure its worth the effort and all the x64 bughunting. XDA Developers was founded by developers, for developers.
